Privacy Policy

Last Updated: January 7, 2026

At Skorekeeper, we believe your game data belongs to you. Our architecture is designed around data ownership, privacy, and security. We collect only the minimum information necessary to operate the service.

1. Scope of this Policy

This policy applies to the Skorekeeper Application (the "Service") and this website.

  • This Website (skorekeeper.org): Hosted on GitHub Pages. When you visit this marketing site, GitHub may collect access logs including IP addresses as per the GitHub Privacy Statement. We do not use third-party analytics or tracking cookies on this landing page.
  • The Skorekeeper App: The scoring application and its associated backend services.

2. Information We Collect

We operate on a principle of data minimization.

  • Account Information: When you sign up for the Service, we collect your email address for authentication and to facilitate team collaboration (e.g., sharing a scorecard with a specific user).
  • Game Data: We store the data you create, including team rosters, game schedules, and play-by-play scoring logs. This data is yours.
  • Usage Logs: Our servers may collect transient access logs (IP address, user agent) for security monitoring and debugging purposes.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your data strictly to provide and improve the Service:

  • To synchronize your game state across your devices in real-time.
  • To allow you to share games and collaborate with other users you designate.
  • To ensure the security and integrity of the platform.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or game data to third parties.

4. Data Security

We take the security of your data seriously. Skorekeeper employs Encryption at Rest. All persistent game and team data stored on our servers is encrypted using authenticated encryption (AES-256-GCM). This ensures that your data remains protected even in the event of unauthorized access to the underlying storage infrastructure.

5. Third-Party Service Providers

We may use third-party cloud infrastructure providers to host the Service (e.g., compute and storage). These providers have access to the infrastructure but are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for providing the infrastructure services.

6. Contact Us

Skorekeeper is an open-source project. If you have questions about this policy or the privacy practices of the project, you can reach out via our GitHub Discussions or verify our implementation directly by reviewing the Source Code.
